Functional Nanoscale Structure Probe and Simulation Laboratory (Funsilab)

Currently we are deeply interested in the development of theories and codes for the understanding of eletronic and magnetic ground and excited state properties of nanostructures at the vicinity of surfaces.

Of particular interest are the following activities:

  • Development of a theory based on first-principles that describes spin-excitations as probed by scanning tunneling spectroscopy.
  • Effect of spin-orbit interaction on dynamical magnetic response functions at the nanoscale
  • Complex magnetism at the nanoscale
  • Friedel oscillations: Anisotropy of the oscillations, their magnetic properties and their impact on the long range magnetic interactions of nanostructures.
