Successful ACTRIS Annual Meeting 2023

The ACTRIS community held its annual meeting in Heraklion, Greece, from 24th to 27th October 2023. 10 project participants from the Institute for Energy and Climate Research IEK-8: Troposphere at the Forschungszentrum Jülich (FZJ) attended the weeklong meeting and presented activities and developments in their respective research areas. This includes the Topical Center CiGas (Centre for Reactive Trace Gases In Situ Measurements), which is led by FZJ and assumes an important role within ACTRIS with respect to the calibration protocols and measurement guidelines of reactive trace gases, as well as the atmospheric simulation chamber SAPHIR (Simulation of Atmospheric PHotochemistry In a large Reaction Chamber) and the cloud observation system JOYCE (Jülich Observatory for Cloud Evolution), both of which act as national facilities. Highlights were the meetings of the National Facilities and the workshops of the individual Topical Centers. Here, among other topics, an improved system of submission and access to measurement data from the stations as well as the auditing of the stations was presented, which led to lively discussions with several questions and answers. The week ended on a high note with a visit to the archaeological museum in Heraklion, which contains exhibits from Knossos, Phaistos, Agia Triada and various other archaeological sites.
