A shared commitment: the new office for parents and children. Schneider (Peter Grünberg Institute (PGI)), Dirk Schlotmann (PGI/JCNS-TA) and Dr. Marisol Ripoll (Institute of Complex Systems) with her children (bottom).

A new kind of office has been made available to staff at Forschungszentrum Jülich since March 2012.  Parents can bring their children aged between six months and twelve years here and work while looking after them for a few days if their childcare arrangements fall through at the last minute.

The new office was officially opened on 12 March in the Peter Grünberg Institute, which has placed this room at the disposal of parents.  Thanks mainly to prize money donated by PhD student Anna Dovern, the office is equipped with toys and a play area, a baby’s changing table and a children’s bed.  Contributions were also made by the Association of Friends and Benefactors of Forschungszentrum Jülich.

More information is available to employees on the Forschungszentrum Intranet.
