Molecular engineering of novel soft crystalline phases using DNA

Emmanuel Stiakakis work focuses on the research area of experimental Soft Condensed Matter. We use DNA as a programmable nanoscale bulding block for fabricating all-DNA and DNA-based particles with engineered shape and interaction potentials that could serve as model systems for exploring unconventional bull phase behavior of diverse states of matter such as liquid crystals, crystalline phases and gels. To achieve our goals, we work in parallel with theory and simulation groups.
