Support for Early-Career Scientists (W)

Talent Management and Promotion of Early-Career Scientists

Developing innovative ideas, contributing to solving important problems: The Department Support for Young Researchers supports Jülich talents of all qualification phases with structured programmes and individual measures.

Early-career scientists make an important contribution to scientific progress through their commitment and innovation. A key ambition of Forschungszentrum Jülich is to provide tailored support and conditions for these researchers to enable them to achieve excellence.

At the interface between science, board of directors, administration, external university partners, and funding bodies, we are responsible for strategically developing the promotion of young talent in science. Our measures and funding programmes are oriented towards the guiding principles of diversity and inclusion as well as excellence, and therefore contribute to internationalizing Forschungszentrum Jülich and promoting early-career scientists.

Actively shaping qualification phases

Forschungszentrum Jülich promotes its young researchers in all qualification phases. The aim is to actively support young researchers in deciding on a specific career goal and, at the same time, to prepare the most innovative, suitable minds for a career in science and science-related fields.

Promotion across the board and at the top

Without the pioneering spirit and innovative strength of young researchers, scientific progress would be almost inconceivable. Forschungszentrum Jülich offers outstanding young researchers a good starting point for a career in science. The FZJ is also a good springboard for scientists looking for a perspective in science management or the industry. We advise on selected funding programmes and accompany selected "Jülich Talents" during their stay at Forschungszentrum Jülich.

Driving excellence through diversity, equity and inclusion

We conduct research on behalf of society, and it is our responsibility to understand the needs and perspectives of an increasingly diverse population. We believe that the diversity of our researchers, the variety of their perspectives and different ways of thinking, is crucial to scientific progress. We want to attract creative minds from all over the world to Jülich: people who are innovative and enthusiastic about unconventional ways of thinking. We are working to create an equitable environment, in which all researchers can develop their full potential. In our funding activities, we pay particular attention to D&I-sensitive selection and recruitment processes, as well as to bias-free funding and nomination practices.
