Profile

Nanoelectronics and Quantum Information Theory

New phenomena emerge in electronic transport and electronic coherence in near-atomic scale structures. Quantum-mechanical correlations create novel states of matter, which can be the basis of new kinds of devices. Uniquely quantum-mechanical forms of information processing can emerge from such devices.

Special Interests

Electronic transport through quantum dots and other structures with discrete quantum mechanical energy levels. Renormalization-group analysis of conduction through impurities. Correlated electronic structure of novel materials. The realization of qubits in spintronic and superconducting systems. Topological order in the solid state and its application to quantum computers.
