The research and development activities of the INM-4 division of the Institute of Neuroscience and Medicine focus on the development, experimental validation and clinical implementation of new brain imaging methods. This includes the development of novel methods in ultra-high field magnetic resonance imaging (UHF-MRI), electroencephalography (EEG) and the development of hybrid imaging that combines MRI with positron emission tomography (PET). Such combinations offer unique opportunities for the simultaneous acquisition of structural changes as well as physiological and biochemical data, thus opening excellent perspectives for clinical application in neurological diseases, e.g., neuropsychiatric disorders, and for the diagnosis and therapy of brain tumours. Due to their non-invasive nature, these methods form the basis for the in vivo investigation of the human brain and for dealing with the fundamental mechanisms of neuroscience.

The opportunities for your career are just as diverse as our research fields. Whether in training, as a student assistant, in an internship, for your thesis or doctorate, or as a scientist - become part of the team!

Will we succeed in understanding the human brain?
