SuFIDA Helmholtz Innovation Lab

SUFIDA
Forschungszentrum Jülich

The SuFIDA Helmholtz Innovation Lab is a technical platform that helps to better detect diseases that are difficult to diagnose. SuFIDA (Disruptive Digital Diagnostics) can count individual so-called marker molecules and thus enables a more precise diagnosis. The Innovation Lab develops standardised detection methods (assays) and has pipetting robots and automated "high content" microscopes.

In contrast to the ELISA detection method currently used in research and medicine, SuFIDA is digital and more sensitive. Thanks to the new diagnostics, biomarkers can be found that are present in very low concentrations and were therefore not previously accessible to quantitative analysis with conventional methods. Further advantages of this technology include the simultaneous measurement of several target molecules as well as the large concentration range that can be detected.

The aim of the Innovation Lab - in cooperation with partners from industry and science - is to replace conventional detection methods for marker molecules and develop tailor-made assays.

All processes in the SuFIDA Innovation Lab are embedded in a quality management system according to ISO 9001:2015.
