SAPHIR and SAPHIR-PLUS

SAPHIR
SAPHIR atmospheric simulation chamber
Forschungszentrum Jülich

The SAPHIR atmospheric simulation chamber enables reproducible investigations into precisely defined atmospheric-chemical mechanisms. This makes it possible to reconstruct and investigate processes at play in the atmosphere.

On request, the SAPHIR-PLUS plant chamber can be tailored with a natural mixture of biogenic hydrocarbons for user experiments. It is thus possible to investigate which atmospheric processes are governed by volatile hydrocarbons emitted by plants, and what impact these emissions have on the atmosphere’s self-cleansing capacity and air quality.
