The ER-C is home to some of the world’s most advanced electron microscopes and nanoscale characterisation tools, including five aberration-corrected and four uncorrected transmission electron microscopes.

The ER-C also has expertise in the application of cryo-electron microscopy for soft matter research. The ER-C’s experts support researchers from science and industry in their use of instruments and methods. New instruments that are not yet commercially available are being developed with partners from academia and industry. All ER-C equipment and their uses are accessible on a peer-review basis and are offered free of charge to users looking to publish their findings.
