Jülich LOFAR antenna field

Jülich’s LOFAR station DE605 consists of two antenna fields for measuring high and low frequencies. The container between them houses the electronics for processing the signals from the individual antennae.

One of the German LOFAR stations was constructed in direct neighbourhood of the Forschungszentrum Jülich opposite to the Daubenrath Gate. The Jülich LOFAR station DE605 has been established and is operated in a collaboration between the Ruhr-Universität Bochum, the Jacobs University Bremen, and the Forschungszentrum Jülich and is partly funded by the BMBF project D-LOFAR. JSC is responsible for the organization and operation of the station.

LOFAR stations comprise two arrays of 75 m diameter which consist of many Low Band Antenna operating between 10 and 90 MHz and High Band Antenna operating between 110 and 250 MHz.
