SDL Neuroscience
The Simulation and Data Lab (SDL) Neuroscience is an interdisciplinary team of scientists and engineers with complementary backgrounds and skills, dedicated to supporting neuroscientists in using high-performance computing and data resources for their research. Expertise in both neuroscience and HPC is based on in-house research and development, as well as collaborative joint projects with the Institute of Neuroscience and Medicine (INM), Forschungszentrum Jülich, and other national and international partners.
Research and support activities include
- Developing simulation, data analysis and visualisation technology for neuroscience
- Porting and optimizing user codes for supercomputers
- Maintaining installations of widely used simulation and data analysis tools on the supercomputers
- Supporting the preparation of computing time proposals and Preparatory Access
- Offering tutorials, courses and workshops
As part of its collaborations in the Human Brain Project, the SDL Neuroscience contributes to the co-design of the infrastructure by developing requirements specification, validation and user support.
The SDL Neuroscience is the "Bernstein Facility for High Performance Simulation and Data Analytics", providing expertise in simulation and data analytics technologies to the Bernstein Network Computational Neuroscience.
The SDL Neuroscience has been funded by the Helmholtz Association as part of the Helmholtz Portfolio Theme "Supercomputing and Modeling for the Human Brain (SMHB)", and the Jülich Aachen Research Alliance (JARA).
